Spring Cleaning

When you think about spring cleaning, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Probably cleaning your room or house. Changing out your winter clothes for clothes that are more fitting for the warm weather. Now don’t get me wrong these things are essential in making your transition into spring and I definitely suggest. But kids, have you ever considered a mental cleansing in reference to spring cleaning. Riding yourself self of the winter blues and any negativity that was holding you back in the previous months. Sometimes we get stuck in a rut and we don’t even notice it. There are things that are crippling us and holding us back but we’ve gotten so use to them...

Off to Berlin

Today I leave for my 5 month adventure to Berlin to start my new job as a spy on  the TV series Berlin Station. It’s kind of surreal to think that I’m leaving my friends and family for this extended amount of time but it’s the nature of the job. I’ve compared it to being a student who’s about to embark on a study abroad semester. I don’t know what to expect or what will come from my time in Berlin but I do know there’s an importance in being mentally prepared before leaving for a long trip without your family and your best friends. SERIOUSLY, for the kids that have studied abroad, did you have to get mentally prepared for...

Tranquil Tuesday: Mental Health

Something that I truly stand beside is that your mental health is just as important as your physical health. You have to take time to address your mental health and take it seriously. Do you check in with yourself? When you're feeling anxious do you note the triggers associated around those moments? All these things are important in the process of maintaining your overall health. I know addressing your mental health can be uncomfortable and self reflection can even get a little awkward but what if you could do these things comfortably from say - Twitter in a chill chat with chill people just like yourself. Sounds too good to be true right? But that's exactly what the JOYday movement provides...

Tranquil Tuesday: Off Days

We all have our days and some days are just better than others. As young adults we’re constantly battling with things such as our careers, school, friends, relationships, and family-it’s no wonder we get down on ourselves at times. I’m so happy I’m able to have a job I love and that I have amazing people in my life, you all included, but that doesn’t mean I never have bad days but I always remember this only temporary. Here are 5 things to try whenever you’re having an off day.

1. Set aside some “Me Time”

Seriously, sometimes you just need to be somewhere by yourself. Whether it’s the spa, or in your bed cuddled up to a good book, or just...

Tranquil Tuesday: Juices & Smoothies

Snacking is so addictive, when you’re feeling a little hungry, you naturally go towards chips or candy but that’s not always the best way to go for your body. Heavy snacks can make you feel sluggish and you’ll be hungry again later and you’re forced to just eat more and more unhealthy snacks. But there’s a healthier way to go. Juices and smoothies are not only filling, they give you energy and the vitamins that you need to make it through the day. The best thing to do is to make a huge patch of fresh smoothie juice and freeze it in a ziplock bag. So when you’re craving a snack you just grab one of the packs out of...

Yoga: Morning Stretches

You know that stretch you hit early in the morning when you first wake up? You know the one, your arms and legs stretched to capacity, you can feel every lim in your body coming to life, and it’s usually accompanied by a nice morning breath yawn. That great feeling you feel after that stretch isn’t by coincidence. Stretching is an important practice that we sometimes don’t give much attention to. Just because the results of stretching are not as visible as maybe cardio or lifting weights, it still has it’s benefits, one being better blood flow, and its ability to help decrease your risk of injuries. So kids, when you get up and get that good morning stretch out...

Tranquil Tuesdays: Breakfast Recipes

You know what’s the best way for you to start your day? By watching me say “Morning KIDDDS” on Snap and giving you the energy you need to fuel your day. haha But seriously, I know you hear it all the time, the best way to start your day is with a great breakfast. What you eat in the morning sets the tone for the rest of your day. I know sometimes with the rush of the morning time we don’t always take the time to sit down and enjoy breakfast or better yet prepare a breakfast that will start our day off right. BUT HAVE NO FEAR, Auntie Keke is here. I found some great breakfast recipes that...
